SPM is delighted to welcome Pedram Tootoonchian with a background in Chemistry and a passion for soft robotics. With his expertise in hydrogel actuators and nanoparticle synthesis in gel media, he will work on developing dual-responsive hybrid actuators by combining light-responsive liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) with magneto-sensitive hydrogels. Welcome to Tampere University and the SPM group, Pedram, we look forward to the discoveries ahead!

We’re excited to announce a new addition to our group - Dr. Jose Guillen Campos! Guillen joins us as a postdoc, bringing valuable experience in donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASAs), azobenzene photoswitches, and liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) . In the group he will be working in the field of   light-responsive materials and adaptive soft matter with a focus on synthesis of new materials. Welcome aboard, Guillen!
