SPM warmly congratulates Dr. Yasaman Nemati on successfully completing her PhD on 27 March 2026.

In her dissertation, Towards Multi-Responsive and Autonomous Soft Actuators Based on Liquid Crystal Elastomers, she demonstrates how these materials achieve multi-responsive behavior, biomimetic movement, and self-sustained motion. Her research advances the development of nature-inspired soft actuators.

The public defense took place at the Hervanta campus, with Prof. Helen F. Gleeson from the University of Leeds in United Kingdom as Opponent and Professor Arri Priimägi as Custos.
